EUA e Angola terão ligação aérea directa
Angola e os Estados Unidos da América poderão rubricar, quinta-feira, em Luanda, o acordo bilateral de serviços aéreos, informou hoje o sub-secretário de Estado norte-americano para os Assuntos Políticos, William Burns.
Em declarações aos jornalistas, em Luanda, William Burns adiantou que o acordo a ser assinado deverá permitir os voos directos entre os nossos dois países.
Segundo o sub-secretário de Estado norte-americano, o acordo é um documento em que as duas partes têm estado a trabalhar, a algum tempo, para a sua assinatura quinta-feira.
O sub-secretário de Estado norte-americano para os Assuntos Políticos americano será recebido, quinta-feira, pelo Presidente da República, José Eduardo dos Santos.
O governante manterá ainda encontros de trabalho com o ministro das Relações Exteriores, Assunção dos Anjos, e com membros da Câmara de Comércio dos Estados Unidos-Angola, para discutir formas de facilitar o comércio e investimento bilateral.

Angola e EUA reforçam cooperação no domínio dos transportes aéreos
O ministro dos Transportes, Augusto da Silva Tomás, viajou hoje (terça- feira) para os Estados Unidos da América, onde, durante cerca de uma semana, vai manter contactos com as autoridades locais com vista o reforço da cooperação bilateral no sector aéreo.
Em breves declarações à Angop, no Aeroporto Internacional 4 Fevereiro, o titular da pasta dos Transportes explicou que a sua ida aos Estados Unidos visa igualmente saber junto das autoridades locais para quando o início de voos regulares de companhias americanas interessadas em voar para o país, entre as quais a Delta Airlines.
Augusto Tomás vai analisar ainda com as autoridades americanas a possibilidade de início de voos comerciais da Transportadora Aérea Angolana (TAAG) para os EUA.
Além dos contactos que vai manter com as autoridades aeronáuticas norte-americanas, o governante angolano vai dissertar, na quinta-feira, num seminário a ser realizado em Washington sobre “O desenvolvimento do tráfico aéreo angolano e os seus grandes desafios”.
Um memorando de entendimento entre os governos angolano e americano no domínio do transporte aéreo internacional foi rubricado recentemente, em Luanda, pelo ministro dos Transportes, Augusto Tomás, e o subsecretário norte-americano para os Assuntos Políticos, William Burms.
Na ocasião, Augusto Tomás apontou a padronização das normas de segurança no aeroporto como as medidas que se seguirão.
Por sua vez, o subsecretário norte-americano para os Assuntos Políticos, Willian Burns, referiu que a cerimónia representou um acto marcante nas relações entre os EUA e Angola, por abrir caminho para voos comerciais entre os dois países.

Flights will operate three times per week with 243-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft flying between Delta's hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Luanda with an intermediate stop in Dakar, Senegal.

The expanded service, which launches on Jan. 20, 2011, does not affect Delta's previously announced capacity guidance for 2011.

"This new service between Atlanta and Luanda will shave hours off of business travelers' itineraries between the U.S. and Angola thanks to more direct routings via the world's largest airline hub in Atlanta."
Angola, one of Africa's fastest growing business travel destinations, has seen double-digit growth in annual travelers for the past several years and is expected to grow at similar rates for the foreseeable future. In addition to Delta's new direct service, SkyTeam alliance customers will continue to enjoy twice-weekly Boeing 777 service between Luanda and Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport, operated by Air France.
Delta also is working with TAAG Angolan Airlines for TAAG to codeshare on the flights at a future date.
Flights between Atlanta and Luanda via Dakar will be available for sale to customers at delta.com and through travel agencies and other ticketing channels beginning Saturday, Oct. 2. Flights are scheduled as follows:

The new Luanda service marks a return of nonstop service between Atlanta and Dakar, adding to existing year-round service between the Senegalese capital and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Dakar joins Accra, Ghana as the second African city with nonstop service to two of Delta's U.S. hubs.
