More: Chinguetti (CGT), Mauritania (October 16, 2009)

Remark: F-BVOB (cn 28-7405113) On final at Chinguetti airfield. The runway is made of crushed red stone, partly recovered with lighter colored sand. Deep inside Mauritania, Chinguetti is not far from the Richat structure, which has a diameter of almost 50 kilometres and has become a landmark for space shuttle crews. Chinguetti is the 7th most holy city of Islam. Onboard our PA28 F-BVOB, we are back from an overflight of this geological rarity. Notice the goats on the runway and our friends on the apron, in a TB20, C182 and DR253.

More: Etoile du Sud, Mauritania (October 22, 2009)

Remark: Arriving at L'Etoile du Sud private airfield, Mauritania, about 100 kilometers south of Nouakchott. The runway was officially opened the day of our arrival, making us among the first to land there. Runway is mainly made of compacted sand, while some areas are not yet compacted. We received a very nice welcome from the Etoile du Sud hotel.
